Kacey Paplawski

Following her passion for sports and community engagement, Kacey completed her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a graduate certificate in Sport and Recreation Management at the University of Alberta. Rooted in her experiences in adapted physical activity she continued by embarking on a career in the disability sector supporting people experiencing disability to achieve fulfilling and meaningful lives that she is most passionate about. Deeply committed to inclusivity and accessibility, she seeks to create community spaces where individuals of all abilities can thrive through openness, advocacy and allyship. Kacey enjoys working collaboratively from a multidisciplinary approach to break down barriers and empower those with complex needs to confidently engage in their communities.
Kacey embraces a leadership style that encourages and facilitates group creativity utilizing improv principles of ‘yes, and?’ combined with a shared vision of valued citizenship and Person-Centred Planning. Kacey believes in supporting people and communities to develop tools and strategies that emphasize sustainability and meaningful independence; she is proud of leading a team in the creation of a dynamic, human-centred community access model. She appreciates the innovative and collaborative approach of diverse perspectives that Skills Society offers alongside a clear commitment to continuous growth. Outside of work Kacey enjoys playing soccer, engaging in community recreation, and embarking on culinary adventures.
